2010/10/13: C2 Microsystems and AwoX announce DLNA client solution
Hong Kong, 13 October 2010 – C2 Microsystems, a leading developer of media processor semiconductor devices and software for internet-connected television and set-top box products, and AwoX, the leader in network media technology, today announced the integration of AwoX DLNA Certified Components with C2 Microsystems’ CC1200 family of devices.
Consumers can access their content in new ways and on a wider variety of devices through the enabling technologies identified in the DLNA specification; however, the complexity of the specification drives the need for a proven middleware solution built on a robust media processing platform. By integrating the DLNA 1.5 compliant Digital Media Renderer and Digital Media Control Point with the CC1200 family of devices, AwoX and C2 Microsystems can offer a best-of-class solution that meets consumer electronics manufacturers’ needs in terms of ease-of-use, reliability and performance.
“C2 is a pioneer in the delivery of video to consumer electronics devices over broadband networks,” said Dr Gene (Jinxiang) Liu, CEO of C2 Microsystems. “C2 recognizes the growing importance of DLNA in the consumer electronics ecosystem and the demand from our customers for a certified solution that they can have confidence in deploying. We are delighted to work with AwoX to meet that need.”
“For over five years, AwoX has been the leading provider of DLNA-certified components for consumer electronics,” says Alain Molinié, CEO of AwoX. “AwoX is also one of the most active sponsors of developing the DLNA certification program, particularly with today’s trend towards delivering pay-TV content directly to people’s homes. We are convinced that C2 solutions are highly relevant for this new step in multi-screen multimedia consumption.”
AwoX will demonstrate its DLNA solutions at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair during 13-16 October.
