2007/11/08: CC1100 Digital Media Processor Wins “Leading Product Award” from EDN China
SAN JOSE, CALIF. – Nov. 8, 2007 - C2 Microsystems, Inc., the leading developer of fully programmable media processor for low cost, high performance and networked media, announced that EDN China has presented the company with the “Leading Product Award” for its CC1100 Digital Media Processor in the General Purpose Processor (GPP) and DSP category of the magazine’s 2007 Innovation Award.
The CC1100 Digital Media Processor is a high performance, fully software programmable DSP SoC, used for home video entertainment. It integrates a 350MHz RISC Host, featured three core DSP subsystem (Vector Processor, Motion Estimation Engine, and Entropy Engine) and rich peripheral interfaces. The RISC Host runs standard 2.6 Kernel Open Source Linux and communication protocol stack. Together with GNU tools, it enables developers the maximum level reuse existing applications from open source community. The unsymmetrical multi-core DSP subsystem is an optimized architecture designed dedication for high performance video and audio processing. Benefit from this innovative design, the CC1100 supports true multi-format decoding and simultaneous encoding and decoding with single chip. For example, it can decode all the video contents formats found on the Internet, such as MPEG2/4, H.264, WMV, Real Media, and Flash. The CC1100 also integrates USB2.0 OTG, PCI-Express, SATA and DDR2-667 memory interfaces. Those advanced peripheral interfaces make superior connectivity and storage capability, also lower BOM cost for end device.
CC1100 based platform, together with C2 CODECs and complete toolset, enables developers easily build high performance Network Media Devices, including Network TV, Time-Shift TV, Media Center and IP Surveillance applications.
"We are glad to receive this honor from EDN China”, said Jinxiang(Gene) Liu, Ph.D., President and CEO of C2 Microsystems, “C2 began to develop new high performance DSP SoC architecture dedicated for video and audio processing since year 2004. The success of CC1100 shows our innovation on DSP SoC architecture is recognized again by the industry. Network Media Device solutions, powered by both CC1100 and C2 codec technology, will make end users accessing to home and network video content without any limitations. 4A (Anywhere, Anytime, Any media on Any terminal) is a technology revolution anticipated by industry for many years. C2 silicon truly is enabling the 4A”.
About EDN China Innovation Award.
The EDN Innovation Award is one of the most prestigious awards which were introduced in the United States 17 years ago for the semiconductor industry. It was introduced to China in 2005 and has become a well-known event in China’s electronics design community. Judging of Innovation Award is based voting from qualified engineers based on nominations from industry specialists.
