2008/06/03: C2 Microsystems’ CC1100 device at heart of Asustek Computer’s Computex 2008 Best Choice Award-winning multi-media LCD TV
Taipei, Taiwan, 03 June 2008 - C2 Microsystems today announced that its network media processor design based on the CC1100 media processor device was adopted by Asustek Computer and designed into its large-screen multimedia LCD TV, a winner of a Computex 2008 Best Choice Award for digital home appliance products.
ASUS is a leader in the field of digital home appliances, bringing increasingly innovative technologies to consumer products and C2 Microsystems is delighted to be working with Asustek Computer to bring LCD TVs into the category of networked digital home appliances.
C2 Microsystems said that its core media processor architecture is designed for audio and video encoding and decoding. The product specification called for the ability to encode video into H.264 MP, MPEG-4 ASP / SP and VC-1 MP, and to be able to change in real-time the resolution, frame rate and coding algorithms in order to record television broadcast content for play back on any device. The CC1100 device was also required to decode all popular video formats found on the home network and the internet.
Asustek Computer has focused on developing a differentiated product that brings not just television programming to the consumer but also content from the home network, delivered in an easy to use and visually appealing way. The co-operation between C2 and Asustek will inject new vitality into ASUS digital home appliance products.
